Elphin GAA Update August 12th

Seniors Promoted:

The Seniors had a 3-13 to 0-8 win over Kilbride in Division Two on Sunday last. As a result they finished top of the League and will face Strokestown or Tulsk in the O’Gara Cup Final (date TBC).

The Senior championship starts next Saturday at 7:15pm in the Orchard, we take on St Brigids.

The Junior’s also begin there championship campaign next weekend they take on Castlerea in the Junior A championship next Sunday at 1pm in Castlerea. Wishing both teams and management’s best of luck!

Elphin Ballinameen Underage Round-up

The U14s got back to winning ways with a nail biting game against Kilglass-St Barry’s on Friday evening eventually winning out 5-5 to 2-12. We take on Kilmore-Shannon Gaels-St Ronans on Sunday the 18th at 7pm in Kilmore. Training continues Wednesday at 6. 30 in the orchard.

The Minors play Boyle in the championship in round 3 on Tuesday at 7pm in Abbey Park Boyle. Best of luck to the team and management.

Elphin LGFA:

The U12’s 7’s continues with Round 2 taking place in Orchard Park Elphin on Wednesday evening where we host Shannon Gaels, St. Barry’s and Roscommon Gaels. First game kicks off at 6.30pm.

Our U14’s played Roscommon Gaels Sunday 4th August in Lisnamult in extremely wet conditions. Despite the weather and missing some players they put on a great performance and drew the game. They faced St. Faithleachs on Sunday evening in Kilmore where they won 3-12 to 2-02 in an 11 a side game. Elphin Kilmore had a slow start conceding 2 goals early on but fought back leading by 2 points at half time. The Second half continued with a strong Elphin Kilmore presence on the pitch which brought about a 9 point win. They are now through to the final on the 7th September with further details tbc.

The U16 championship kicks off Tuesday evening in Kilmore where our Elphin Kilmore Ladies take on Castlerea at 6pm.

Our Minors were defeated by Castlerea on Thursday evening in Kilmore. They played a great first half but Castlerea came up trumps in the second half winning the game. Details of next match to be confirmed.

We wish to extend a big thank you to Kids Rule After School Services who sponsored us football’s for our U10 & U12 teams. Their support is greatly appreciated.

Summer Camp

Thank you to Peter Carney, Michael Carroll, Adrian and Ciara Conroy and all our club coaches who assisted in running of a very enjoyable Summer Camp last week in which over 60 young kids participated in.
Thank you to Western Gaels and Tulsk who played a series of go games against our U8 and U10 teams on Saturday morning last. Also thank you to everyone who made sandwiches and helped out on the morning.

Club Rossie

Congratulations to Michael Connellan and Valerie Byrne who both won €500 in this year’s Club Rossie draw. Thank you to everyone from Elphin who purchased tickets, the club and Club Rossie appreciates it.

Elphin GAA Lotto

The numbers drawn in this week’s Lotto were 5, 8, 23 & 28. There was no jackpot winner and the Lucky Dip winnerss were John Martin c/o Tower Inn; Michelle & Suzy, Elphin; Catherine McGrath, Kye; Tom Burke, Stamullen Co. Meath. Next week’s jackpot is €12,000 and the 2nd jackpot will be €1,700. The Draw will take place in Timmys. Entry is just €2, Envelopes are available in local shops or you can play here.
