Elphin GAA Last Man Standing

Club News update April 3rd

Adult Football

The Juniors recorded their first win of the season against Kilglass Gaels on Saturday. It was an evenly contested game played in a good spirit. Playing against the wind Elphin started slowly but recovered and trailed by just a point at half-time. A Kilglass goal straight from the throw-in meant that Elphin had it all to do. A fine team performance and a Man of the Match display from Cillian Fox, including a personal tally of 0-9 kept us in the game and we ran out winners on a scoreline of 0-13 to 1-8. On Saturday they are away to St Barrys at 8pm. We wish Brendan Rock a speedy recovery from the injury sustained in the game.

The Seniors host St Brigids on Sunday at 12pm, best of luck to new Manager Johnny Maher and the team.

Elphin-Ballinameen Underage Round-up

The Elphin-Ballinameen Minors suffered a 0-11 to 3-16 defeat to Oran. Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm. It’s a busy week for the U16s – this on Tuesday they are away to Oran at 6:45pm and on Sunday they are away to Padraig Pearses at 11am.

The U14s played Oran in a very sporting and entertaining challenge on Sunday, prevailing on a scoreline of 6-7 to 5-8. The stand-out performances came from Captain Cian Beirne, James McNamara, Alan Gormley, Henry Dowd, Adam Fitzpatrick, Declan Main, Adam Dwyer and Jack Durr, who scored 2-2. Their next game is away to Strokestown on Sunday at 10am.
