Elphin Ballinameen U10s

Elphin GAA Update July 17th

Big win for Seniors:

Six points from Gerry Cregg helped the Seniors to a comfortable 0-13 to 0-4 win over St Croans in the Orchard Park on Saturday evening. In what was a great team performance Cregg got Elphin’s opening score in the first minute. That point was cancelled out almost immediately by what proved to be St Croans’ last score for almost 30 minutes. Frankie Cregg (3), Gerry Cregg (2) and Brian Higgins all pointed in the interim to give Elphin a 0-7 to 0-2 lead at the interval. In the opening minute of the second half Frankie Cregg had a chance to put his side out of sight but his goal-ward shot hit the post. St Croans got the opening point of the second half from a free before Gerry Cregg continued where he left off with his fourth point of the game in the 34th minute. Ronan Beirne added a “45” before St Croans got their 4th and final point of the evening in the 42nd minute. Gerry Cregg added a further two points before the visitors were awarded a penalty with seven minutes remaining after Shane Beirne was adjudged to have committed a foot block. Despite sending Keeper Aaron Brady the wrong way the spot kick failed to hit the target. Shane Killoran finished off a fine team move with a point in the 56th minute and corner back Martin McCaffrey rounded off the scoring in the 60th minute.
