Our senior footballers had a narrow win in Orchard on Friday evening over St. Faithleach’s. The lead changed several times over the hour with the visitors forwards particularly dangerous in the first half. In the second half, Elphin took more control but they failed to pull away and were happy to scrape through with a one-point victory. The next outing is a trip to Roscommon to face Roscommon Gaels tomorrow evening (Wednesday) at 8:15 pm in Lisnamult.
Elphin-Ballinameen Underage
Well done to our U14 Division 3 and Division 4 teams who had good wins over Kilglass/St.Barry’s and Western Gaels. Our Division 4 team topped their group and have now qualified for the League Semi-Finals. Our Minor team had one point win over Kilglass/St.Barry’s and a one-point loss to St. Michael’s/St. Ronans.
The U18s had mixed fortunes over the week. We lost by one point to St. Michael-St. Ronans on Thursday in a game in which we were up by 5 points at half-time and seemed to be in control. A lacklustre 2nd half allowed Michaels-Ronans to regain their composure and get back in the game. Too many missed chances cost Elphin-Ballinameen and we lost by 1 point. On Sunday the team made amends when they produced a performance of guts and composure to make for a fantastic win by just one point again. The next outing is again a critically important match on Thursday at 7.30 pm against neighbours Tulsk. We will have home advantage again so we hope to see all our supporters back in the Orchard to shout on the boys.
