We had a lovely day of activities in the Orchard last Saturday morning to mark the official opening of the new Stand. It began with the stars of the future showcasing their skills in U8 and U10 blitzes. Big thanks to Shannon Gaels, St. Michaels, Kilbride and Clonguish for participating. Then we had a great display of rounders from the members of the rounders teams and more entertainment from the Scór Set Dancers.
We had lovely words from our Club Chairperson, Martin Travers and from Fr Stephen, who blessed the Stand. Then our Club President, Noel Collins and County Chairperson, Brian Carroll, officially opened the Stand. Finally, thank you to Kieran O’Connor, who unveiled a plaque honouring Arthur O’Connor. Arthur lived in “The Palace”, and kindly donated his Orchard to Elphin GAA in 1914, for the benefit of the local community. Kieran is a distant relative of Arthur. The plaque is located at our new Sensory Garden, so please make sure to pay a visit to both.
To all the people who helped out on the day and in the lead-up: thank you very much. Your work does not go unnoticed – the pitch and surroundings are looking brilliant.
Condolences
Elphin GAA extends our sincere sympathy to the Connellan and Clancy families, and Kilmore GAA, on the sad passing of Don Connellan. May he rest in eternal peace.
