Elphin GAA Update January 14th:

Elphin Lights Up!

We are coming on board with Operation Transformation for Ireland Lights Up. Every Thursday from the 17th January – 21st February our club will be open and lit up for you, your family and friends to come and walk from 7pm to 8.30pm, spread the word! All you need to do is sign in and your ready to go! Sign in will take place in the old dressing rooms in the Orchard from 7pm – 7.30pm every Thursday for the 6 weeks, if you wish to warm up we will also be providing a light warm up session in the stand at 7.15. We would also ask people who would like to participate park there cars outside the gates of the Orchard as this will make a safer environment to walk in. You can walk or run and can say for length of time you wish, obviously while the lights are on! Everybody in the community is welcome to take part, you do not need to be a member of the club and all ages are welcome! We look forward to seeing you all there! Coaching

Elphin GAA are running a Foundation Coaching course this Friday evening from 6:30pm and on Saturday morning. It is open to anybody who does not have a coaching qualification. If interested people can contact Adrian Conroy.

Elphin Lights Up!

Do you want to get moving and active this New Year, but you have nowhere to go? Do you find it hard to find a safe and well-lit area to go for a walk during the dark winter months? Well, we have the answer! Elphin GAA is coming on board with Operation Transformation and the GAA for Ireland Lights Up. There was no winner of this week’s lotto jackpot. The lucky dip winners were Lorraine Flanagan/Kavanagh Carlow, Brendan Costello, Noel Flanagan, Stephanie Cregg. Elphin GAA Update December 22nd

AGM

The Club AGM takes place on Saturday the 22nd of December in the clubrooms in at 5pm. We would really encourage club members to attend but also people who are not members but may like to get involved in the following year.

The Micheal O’Callaghan Cup game between Elphin and Ballinameen takes place on St Stephens Day in the Orchard at 2pm.

The Club extends sympathy to the Higgins family, Cartron, on the passing of Gerry. May he rest in peace.

Elphin GAA Update December 13th

AGM

The Club AGM takes place on Saturday the 22nd of December at the clubroom in the Orchard at 5pm. We would really encourage club members to attend but also people who are not members but may like to get involved in the following year.

The Micheal O’Callaghan Cup.

This year will be a bit of a shake up, the county got fed up beating the town!! So we will take on Ballinameen Gaa Club on St Stephen‘s Day in the Orchard at 2pm. There will be refreshments served and music in the stand to keep us all entertained by Elphin Wren Boys/Girls. Admission on the day will be optional and the proceeds will go towards Elphin/ Ballinameen Under Age Development.

Club Social Night

We are also in the process of planning a Club night on the 29th of December. More details to follow.
We hope to see you all at some of the above.

National Club Forum

The National Club Forum took place on Saturday last in Croke Park and was attended by some of the club members. Well done to Mick Rock, Chairperson of the National Club Committee for hosting a very informative and enjoyable day.

Elphin GAA Update December 3rd

: Congratulations to Elphin Ballinameen U20s who are division 3 Champions. They defeated St Croans on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-6. Well done team and management.

The club wish to extend our gratitude to our sponsors for our U16’s Championship Final – Tommy & Ann Gormley, iQ Financial (Coman Brady) and Drumderrig Nursing Home. We also wish to thank An Bothar Rua for their fantastic hospitality in hosting the get together for the girls after the match.
Thank you to the teams management Martin Higgins and Damien Devaney for their hard work, dedication and commitment all year through.

Our U12’s were treated to an end of season fun day out at ZipIt in Forest Park where they participated in team building excerises and hours of fun were had by all. A big thank you to their management team Colm Finnerty, Padraig Costello, Steve Holmes, Triona Higgins and Chloe Higgins for all their hard work. A special word of thanks to Colm Finnerty who treated the girls to this fun filled activity day.

Well done to the Elphin Ballinameen U20s who had a great win over Kilbride at the weekend. It ended 6-13 to 2-10. They are now through to the Division 3 Final, where they will take on St Croans on 2nd December. Venue and time to be decided.

Elphin GAA Update November 12th

The Minor Board AGM took place on Friday night in the Day Care Centre and was well attended. The outgoing chairperson Jim Mcloughlin standing down after 4 years in the role, the club would like to thank Jim for his commitment and dedication. The following were elected on the night Chairperson Adrian Conroy, Vice-Chairperson Stuart Watters, Secretary Kathleen McCaffrey and Coaching Officer John Kelly.

Elphin/Ballinameen Underage Round-up

The U20’s began their campaign with a 1-12 to 1-2 win over st Aidan’s in Ballyforan yesterday (Sunday). Next Sunday we welcome Kilbride to the Orchard at 12pm in round 2. Best of luck to team and management and all support welcome.

Elphin GAA Update October 30th

The Juniors are out again this Sunday in the League Final against Padraig Pearses in Woodmount at 2pm in the hope of completing the double. What a great achievement this would be for these lads! The best of luck to team and management, please come out and support the lads!

Elphin/Ballinameen Underage Round-up

Hard luck to the Elphin Ballinameen u12s who lost out in the Shield Final to Kilmore by a point on Friday evening last. In what was a great game it finished 12 points to 11.

Well done to our Elphin Kilmore u16 Ladies who had a great hard fought win over Padraig Pearses in their Div 1 quarter final game in the Orchard on Saturday. Playing against a strong wind in the first half and conceding 2 quick Pearses points at the start of the second our girls came from 8 points to nil down to win 1-10 to 0-09.
Their semi-final game will be away to Boyle.

The Minor Committee AGM will take place on Friday 9th November 8pm clubrooms. All welcome.
