Elphin Ballinameen Underage Round-up

U16 drew there game against St Michaels. They play Castlerea on Sunday next in the Orchard please come along and support.

ABC programme

The Agility, Balance and Coordination (ABC) programme continues this Friday the 15th of March from 6:30 – 7:15pm for 4 and 5 year olds and 7:15 – 8:00pm for 6 and 7 year olds in Elphin Community Centre.
All children in the parishes are welcome to attend. Club registration also available on the night

Elphin LGFA:

Our U10’s took part in a county Go Games blitz in St. Faithleach’s, Ballyleague last Saturday in extremely cold conditions. Despite the weather, it was a great day with a great turnout. Thank you to all the parents who came and braved the elements to support the girls. A draw was held afterwards to select 2 teams to represent the county in the U10’s Go Games Activity Day in Croke Park on the 15th April. I am delighted to report that our Elphin Kilmore U10’s were one of the lucky teams chosen for it along with Kilbride.
U8 and U10 trainings take place on Monday’s 6.30 to 7.30pm in the Orchard.

The U16’s played their first Division 1 Championship match Sunday in Elphin against a strong St.Dominics side where they suffered a tough defeat. The game was played in adverse conditions with strong winds, bitter cold temperatures and even some snow. The Elphin Kilmore side played with injuries, illnesses and absences and fought hard but St. Dominics were persistent and came out on top.
Next game away to Eire Óg next Sunday 17th March.

Annual Sponsor Draw

The Senior Sponsor draw takes place on Friday April 5th in An Bothar Rua, if you would like to enter please contact a member of the committee.

We are also having a Social Night on Easter Saturday night in An Bothar Rua. More details to follow.

Scór Champions

Well done to our Scor teams who participated in the Connaught Finals on Sunday last, the Quiz team, Recitation and Leiru are all through to the All Ireland finals they take place in the TF Royal, Castlebar on Saturday April 13th. Ticket details to follow.

Congratulations to Elphin Ballinameen minors on a win on Sunday last. Working so hard in the first half it was inevitable that Tulsk would put us under pressure in 2nd half but great defence, goalkeeping and vital points in the 2nd half means we have 2 pts on the table well done lads.
The u16s are away to St. Michaels next Sunday morning at 11am in Ardcarne, best of luck.

Scór Sinsear Champions

Well done to all Club members who claimed 3 titles in the county Scór final last Saturday night in the Recitation, Leithru/sketch and Set Dancing. The Connacht Final takes place on Sunday in Balla Co.Mayo. Please come along and support.

Club merchandise is still available on line the shop is open until the midnight on 10th of March you can see all items available via www.elphingaa.com/shop. Please bear in mind that the shop won’t be open again until much later in the year.

Elphin LGFA:

Our U16 ladies have resumed training now for the 2019 season with the Division 1 Championship kicking off on Sunday 10th March with a home game against St. Dominics at 4pm.

U14 have started back training also, training days and times to be confirmed.

U8 / U10 girls are back in action with trainings taking place on Monday’s from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in the Orchard. All previous and new members welcome. Our U10’s will take part in their first county blitz of the year next Saturday 9th March with venue and time to be confirmed.

Membership

Registration takes place at the club house at ABC in hall next Friday between 6.30pm – 8pm. Players of any age can’t train or play games without being registered as they will not be insured. Forms are available here: Adult or Youth. and also on the night.

Congratulations and well done to Colm Beirne, Michael Gunn, Matt Hynes and Mick Rock the Scor Quiz team who won and are now through to the All Ireland. Also best of luck to our novelty act and dancing teams who are participating in the County Final this weekend in Kilbride .

The Shop will go live this Saturday 23rd and remain open until midnight on Sunday 10th March.

Important points to note

The Elphin Ballinameen U14 and Minor fixtures were postponed last weekend and will be rescheduled at a later date. The U16’s play Tulsk on Saturday next at 12pm in the Orchard.

Adult Football

Well done to the seniors who got the 2019 season off to a winning start, defeating Michael Glaveys on Sunday last on a scoreline of 2.15 to 6 points.

While the Minors play Kilglass Gaels/St. Barry’s at 11am on Sunday in Tarmonbarry.

Club Registration takes place on Friday next from 7-9pm in the club house and also from 11 to 12 on Saturday morning. Membership Rates as follows: Full playing member: €60, Full non playing member: €40, Student: €40, Family: €110, U18: €30. Anybody who is registered and fully paid by Saturday at 12 will be placed in a draw to win a signed Roscommon Jersey or can have a 1 year membership of the Elphin club lotto.

We are running a Child Protection course this Friday the 25th in the Club House from 7pm until 10pm. Any coaches who have not completed this course inside the last 3 years are encouraged to attend.

Elphin Lights Up!

We are coming on board with Operation Transformation for Ireland Lights Up. Every Thursday from the 17th January – 21st February our club will be open and lit up for you, your family and friends to come and walk from 7pm to 8.30pm, spread the word! All you need to do is sign in and your ready to go! Sign in will take place in the old dressing rooms in the Orchard from 7pm – 7.30pm every Thursday for the 6 weeks, if you wish to warm up we will also be providing a light warm up session in the stand at 7.15. We would also ask people who would like to participate park there cars outside the gates of the Orchard as this will make a safer environment to walk in. You can walk or run and can say for length of time you wish, obviously while the lights are on! Everybody in the community is welcome to take part, you do not need to be a member of the club and all ages are welcome! We look forward to seeing you all there! If you have any questions please contact Sharon Tansey.

Coaching

Elphin GAA are running a Foundation Coaching course this Friday evening from 6:30pm and on Saturday morning. It is open to anybody who does not have a coaching qualification. If interested people can contact Adrian Conroy.

Do you want to get moving and active this New Year, but you have nowhere to go? Do you find it hard to find a safe and well-lit area to go for a walk during the dark winter months? Well, we have the answer! Elphin GAA is coming on board with Operation Transformation and the GAA for Ireland Lights Up.
