Club News update June 12th

Junior B Championship: Elphin B 1-7 Clann na nGael C 0-2

Despite missing a number of players due to the Leaving Cert, the Junior team enjoyed a good win over Clann na nGael C in the Championship. The game was played in terrible weather conditions but the Elphin lads started well with Brendan Neary scoring an early goal. Clann came back into the game midway through the half, scoring two points to leave it Elphin 1-3 Clann na nGael C 0-2 at Half-Time. The wind played was a major factor throughout the game but our lads scored four unanswered points in the second half to seal a 1-7 to 0-2 win. Overall it was a good team effort and best for Elphin were Padraig Neary, Conor Beirne, Gavin Higgins and debutant Enda Killoran in defence, Brian Neary and Paddy O’Connor at in midfield and up front Brendan Neary (1-2) and Seanie O’Beirne (0-2) helped us to a convincing win.
Next up is St Ronans in the Tansey Cup this Friday at 8pm in the Orchard and all players are asked to attend.

Best wishes

Best of luck to Fintan Cregg, Shane Killoran and the Roscommon Seniors against Leitrim in the Connacht Semi-Final on Sunday at 3:30pm in Dr Hyde Park. The game will be preceded at 1pm by the Under 17 Semi-Final. Best of luck to Niall Higgins and Coach Peter Carney in that game.
