ACT Meningitis

Elphin GAA support ACT Meningitis

The Elphin-Ballinameen U14s wore new Jerseys featuring the ACT Meningitis logo for their recent Division Two Shield win over Kilglass-St Barrys.

The decision to feature the logo on the Jersey was made in order to increase awareness of Meningitis in the community and throughout the county as one of the team’s players contracted Bacterial Meningitis in March 2018. Thankfully, he was one of the lucky patients and has since made a great recovery.

A spokesperson said “We want to get people talking about Meningitis, to be aware of it’s signs and symptoms, and to know that it can affect anyone at any age.” A Meningitis Awareness card can be downloaded here.

ACT for Meningitis is a charity which aims to raise awareness and educate society about the signs and symptoms of meningitis while offering free support services in Ireland to those affected by the disease. Find out more about the Charity at actformeningitis.ie
