Elphin GAA Update May 20th

Elphin Ballinameen Underage Round-up

Congrats to the U14s on defeating Castlerea in the Division 2 Shield Final by 2-10 to 2-4 this evening (Monday).

The U-12 teams had a busy week with our Div 2 losing out to St Croans 13 pts to 10 pts and beating Western Gaels on Sunday on a score of 18 pts to 8. The Div 5 team had a win over Roscommon Gaels 11 pts to 4 but unfortunately lost out to Boyle.

Hard luck to our U16 team on losing the Div 3 League Final to St. Dominic’s. Despite the lads having a poor start they turned this game around and played fantastic football in the second half. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be their day and St. Dominic’s pulled away in the last 10 minutes of the game beating us 6-9 to 3-10.

Our U8/U10 blitz v Tulsk was postponed and will be rescheduled to a later date.

Adult Football

Well done to the seniors who defeated Clan naGael B by 3-11 to 1-10 on Sunday last.

Best of luck to Fintan Cregg, Shane Killoran and the Roscommon Team who take on Mayo on Saturday evening next.

Elphin LGFA:

Our U14’s were defeated by Ballinameen Wednesday in Kilmore in a high scoring game. The girls put up a great fight from the start but we’re overcome by a strong Ballinameen side. Next game Thursday V Four Roads in Kilmore at 7pm.

U12’s played St. Croans at home Sunday where they were narrowly defeated by just 2 points. Great efforts made by all the girls. Next match Wednesday at home to St. Faithleach’s at 7pm.

Our U8’s and U10’s teams took to the field in Kilmore Wednesday where they both played Ballinameen teams. They put on a great display of football and gave us a glimpse of our up and coming stars of Elphin LGFA.

Our new ladies team – Mothers and Others begin training Wednesday evening at 8.30pm in the Small Orchard. Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others is open to all ladies 25 years + who are not currently playing competitive football. Feel free to join us Wednesday.
