Well done to the Elphin/Ballinameen Minors, who defeated Western Gaels 3-10 to 2-12 in a hotly contested Round 6 Championship game played in Frenchpark. They defeated Michael Glaveys/Éire Óg in their final-round game this evening (Tuesday, 18th).
A big thank you to the St Aidan’s club for inviting our U14’s to the Kevin Carty Memorial Tournament on Saturday. Our lads performed really well, and it’s always nice to bring home some silverware!
Adult Football
Hard luck to the Seniors on the defeat to Castlerea.
The Juniors host Kilglass Gaels in the 2nd round of the Championship this Saturday at 7 pm in the Orchard Park. All support welcome.
Rounders Team Triumph
What a performance from our Elphin Intermediate Ladies Rounders team! The ladies travelled to St Mary’s in Galway to take on Castletown Mellows of Wexford in the All-Ireland Semi-Final — for the second year in a row. Elphin got off to a fantastic start, securing 3 outs straight away and setting the tone for the game. The ladies continued to build momentum, with some outstanding, tight fielding keeping the scoreline low and putting huge pressure on the Wexford side.
The team showed incredible determination, teamwork and composure throughout, eventually coming out on top and securing their place in the All-Ireland Final for the second consecutive year!
A massive congratulations to every player who put in such a fantastic performance, and to the management and everyone behind the scenes who continue to support this amazing team.
The ladies will now travel to Dublin on Sunday, 30th August, in Abbotstown (time TBC) where they will take on Galway City Raparees in the All-Ireland Final. What an achievement!
