Elphin GAA Update September 9th

The seniors drew with Fuerty on Saturday evening last in a nail biting game; it ended 1-15 apiece. We are now into the quarter finals after finishing second in the group. Well done team and management. The quarter-Final Draw will take place next Sunday evening.

The Juniors are playing in a Championship Relegation play off this Friday night against St Faithleachs at 8.15pm in Strokestown. Please come along and support the lads.

The U16’s beat Castlerea 3-15 to 3-7 last week.

The two Under 12 teams continue on their winning way with the Division 5 team beating St. Ronan’s on a score of 17pts to 10pts and the Div 2 team having a good win over Roscommon Gaels; 14pts to 7pts.

The Minors had a hard game against our neighbours Strokestown but came out on top with a win of 1-11 to 1-09
Unfortunately our U14’s got beaten by a stronger Padraig Pearses team.

Minors are fixed to play St. Faithleachs on Sunday at 11am in the Ballinameeen (Note change of time and venue).

Elphin LGFA Update

Our U16’s were defeated by St. Croans last Tuesday evening away. Elphin-Kilmore were low on numbers and missing quite a few key players so had their younger players play up for the match. It was a tough game against a stronger St. Croans side. They play Kilbride at home on the 10th September in the Division 2 Quarter Finals at 6pm.

Elphin Kilmore U12’s finished out the season Sunday morning with a 5 team blitz hosted by Shannon Gaels. The participating teams were Elphin Kilmore, Shannon Gaels, St. Barry’s, Boyle and St. Ronan’s / St. Michael’s. The blitz was sponsored by Carrick Tiles and Bathrooms. St. Barry’s won the blitz with all teams receiving medals for participation. Thank you to Shannon Gaels for a great morning of football and for the lovely refreshments provided after. That brings to a close the U12 football for 2019. Thank you to the mentors Elayne Travers, Michael Cox and Pat Gormley for all their hard work and commitment throughout the year.
